BallTunes
Background
BallTunes, a partner of Major League Baseball, was a startup which paired professional athletes with up-and-coming musical artists and bands to produce “walk up” or “homerun” tracks to be played during games. In addition to needing a place to sell these tracks, they also desired a sports/entertainment portal where baseball and music enthusiasts can discusss the sport.
Project Description
As one of the last projects produced by my agency, Status Bar Interactive, I wore many hats. The client had an aggressive 6-week timeframe to not only build a web-based social network and online music store in time for the start of MLB’s regular season, but also a native iOS app which mirrored all functionality of the web site. I worked with the client to establish creative direction and quickly ramped up hiring talent for our engineering team from all over the world.
In the end, we met the timeline: We had a fully functional music store, both in the iOS app and web site; as well as a social network with features on-par with Facebook at the time. Unfortunately, as were approaching launch, the client decided to pivot in a different direction and the project was ultimately canceled.
